We’re always looking for writers who genuinely love animals and know how to explain things clearly. If that’s you, we’d love to work together.
What We’re Looking For
We publish practical, original content about dog training, cat behavior, pet health, nutrition, and everyday life with animals. The best pieces we’ve ever published came from people who had a real experience — a problem they solved, a technique that actually worked, a lesson they learned the hard way.
We don’t want generic “10 tips” fluff. We want articles that feel like they were written by a real person, for real people, who have real pets.
Our Standards
Be specific. Vague advice helps no one. “Exercise your dog” is not an article. “How we trained our reactive rescue to walk calmly past other dogs in 6 weeks” is.
Be accurate. We fact-check everything. If you make a claim, be prepared to back it up. If the science is genuinely uncertain, say so — we’d rather publish nuance than false confidence.
Be honest. Our readers are smart. They can tell when something was written to get clicks vs. written to genuinely help. Write for the second group.
Be original. We only publish content that hasn’t appeared anywhere else. This includes your own personal blog.
What We Offer

How to Pitch
Send an email to write@smartpetslearning.com with:
- Your name and a brief 2–3 sentence bio
- A pitch: what the article is about, who it helps, and what makes it different from what’s already out there
- Two or three links to things you’ve written before (your own blog counts)
We read every pitch and reply to those that are a good fit. If we don’t respond within two weeks, feel free to pitch the idea elsewhere. We look forward to reading your work.
